CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (May 2001) – You won?’t want to miss the excitement and community spirit of our newest AlbemarleKids Care Exhibit, The Loving Quilt! Join AlbemarleKids.com at Quackin’ For A Cause Fun Festival to help create “The Loving Quilt, An AlbemarleKids Care Exhibit celebrating 100 years of the Junior League and community volunteerism” on May 5 from 3-7pm at Darden Towe Park. Kids of ALL ages can have fun drawing pictues of themselves with someone they love and have their drawing woven into the enormous colorful paper quilt.

Our AlbemarleKids.com sponsor booth will be set up in the KidZone with art tables during the Festival for children to create and the enormous quilt will be displayed as it grows. Several classrooms are participating so this will be our largest quilt yet! Families who participate will also get a special Loving Quilt momento of the day as a thank you for their support of volunteerism. In addition to the AlbemarleKids Care Exhibit, KidZone will also feature a climbing wall, tumbling mats, games & prizes, mascots, music, a dunking booth, safety demonstrations, food, and lots more fun! At 5 pm the great Duck Races kick-off with a parade to the water and special cheers!

The Loving Quilt will continue to grow at Babyfest, a festival by the Women?s Place of the UVA Health System on June 16. Family and friends all over the world will be able to later see it online in the www.AlbemarleKids.com Museum. The Loving Quilt will also be a special feature in this year’s 4th of July Children’s Parade on the Downtown Mall with the Junior League?s Quacky mascot and all his friends! Quackin? For A Cause is the annual fundraiser for The Junior League of Charlottesville, a non-profit organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the leadership potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
